The Domestic violence against women (DVAW) Prevention project was implemented by RaFH firstly in Ninh Binh province. Now, RaFH has been implementing another project on DVAW Prevention in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa province. In order to share and learn experiences from each other , from 5th to 7th, December 2008, a delegation from Thanh Hoa and Nghe An visited Ninh Binh.

The second phase DV project at Ninh Binh funded by SDC named: “Promotion of engagement of men and boys in prevention of domestic violence against women and children in Ninh Binh province”. The DV project at Thanh Hoa and Nghe An named “Community involvement into domestic violence against women and children prevention in Nghi Loc and Quy Hop district, Nghe An province and Nhu Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province”. Although two projects are different on approach but they share the same objective of DV prevention and gender equality.

Nghe An and Thanh Hoa delegation includes the total of 70 people. They are chairwomen of commune Women Union and district Women Union and member of district intervention DV team.

The delegation attended and participated in club meeting “Men without alcohol” at Gia Tan commune, Gia Vien district. This is a new model that the first phase project in Ninh Binh and also the project in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa is not implemented. Participant enjoyed games, group discussion with members of club. The club meeting was very funny, ebullient. Especially, the game “Who pick vegetable fastest, who fold clothes neatest” attracted not only members in club but also members of delegation. Finishing, the club got encouragement and suggestions from participants. The delegation shared their attention because the club were attracted participation of men. At Gia Tan, the delegation also visited counseling room at communal health center. This was effective activity in both projects. The delegation exchanged their experiences on how to decorate the room, how to attract people to come and the necessary counseling skills for counselors.

Then, the delegation visited friendly information corner at Van Phu secondary school. They impressed with the creative of pupils. This is an remarkable activity and also it got response enthusiastically from pupils.

Talking with delegate of Nho Quan intervention DV team, delegate of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An gave thanks to Ninh Binh. This was actually helpful trip not only Ninh Binh but also Thanh Hoa and Nghe An project. They leant much on how to mobilize community people especial men and pupils to involve into the DVAW prevention and how to organize an effective community activity. These experiences will be applied in the Project in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa province.
