At the end of December, 2006, 4 one day DVAW and HIV/AIDS prevention campaigns were held in 20 communes. The objective of this campaign was: propagandizing on DVAW and HIV/AIDS in a large scale to mobilize the participation of the community involved in DVAW and HIV/AIDS prevention. This is an activity in the intergration of HIV/AIDS prevention program into Domestic violence against women prevention in Ninh Binh province

 5 neighboring communes held a campaign. The commune in the center of 5 communes were chosen to be meeting place and launching the campaign. These communes are: Me town, Gia Lac, Son Ha and Dong Phong. At the beginning of the campaign, a launching meeting was held. The representative of district leader and a representative of commnal Board made some speeches introducing the objectives and the nescessary of the campain. And then, there were some performances of communes participating in to campaign. Thes were the play, songs, poems on family, marriage and HIV/AIDS prevention topics. After launching meeting, 30 people driving motorbike and wearing white hat and T-shirt with the sentence: “Prevention of DVAW and HIV/AIDS” marched around main roads of each commune. They brought flags, banners and slogans along with them. The slogans were: community involvment into prevention of DVAW and HIV/AIDS; for a society without DVAW; Stop DVAW, for development of family and society; DVAW is violate the women’s rights and the Vietnamese laws; women and men are equal in the family and society…A small car with loud speaker went with propaganda people and propagandized articiles relating to HIV/AIDS and DVAW prevention and project activities as well. During the campaign, condoms and leaflets were distributed to the local people.
These campaigns were highly appreciated by the local authorities and people. Although these were not big campaigns but they made an attention and good response in the whole 20 project communes as well as the non-project communes when they passed by. Whenever propaganda people come to any commune, they attracted hundreds of people in that commune to participate with them

“The campaign today is really a featival in my commune. We organized some propaganda campaign but no any campaign attracted attention and concern of people like this one. Because the content is very practical and appropriate with each person. DV and HIV/AIDS are emergency issues in the society now and they can threaten the happiness of each family”. Although there were 30 people driving motobike from 5 communes but there was hundreds people of each commune went with us when we come their commune. I think this shows the big support and concern of local people with our project”

These direct and large campaigns helped people who can not come and participate into project activities like: clubs, thematic talk…can approach with the information on DVAW and HIV/AIDS prevention

“I have heard about the project but because I work far from home, so that I could not attend any activity. Today I come back home to have Western New Year holiday with my family, I have opportunity to attend this campaign. I like the content because it is useful and interesting for us, especially who working far from home like me. In the next holiday – Tet holiday, if I have time I will try to participating into a HFC”
