The Centre for Reproductive anh Family Health (RaFH) was invited to present the results and experiences in the role of parents on sexual & reproductive health (SRH) education for youth and adolescent (Y/A). At the meeting, Madam Nguyen Thi Hoai Duc presented the initiative of RaFH on the model of “Fathers and Sons” and “Mothers and Daughters” clubs and it’s activities, results and oudcomes. RaFH has involved in phase I of RHIYA project sponsored by EC/UNFPA in 1998. At that time, the project provided “Parents” club. A lesson leaned from the “Parents” club was limited due to fathers anh mothers could not practice how to talk with their children. Sons have problems such as masturbation that difficult to talk with mothers. Daughters have the problems of menstruation that is not easy to share with fathers. So, in the phase II of the project RaFH provided “Fathers and Sons” and “Mothers and Daughters” clubs . Theses clubs had real success in educating SRH for parents and Y/A. The participants highly appreciated the model of “Fathers and Sons” and “Mothers and Daughters” clubs of RaFH and emphasized the role of parents in SRH education for Y/A. This model is considered to be able to expand in Vietnam and other countries. Director and vice Director of RaFH take a photorap with participant in the meeting |
