| Drawing Contest in response to the Peace One Day |

In response to The Peace One Day (POD) on 21st September, two drawing contest for pupils were organized in Nho Quan and Gia Vien districts, Ninh Binh province by RaFH and Women’s Union of the two district in co-operation with leaders of 14 schools located in the sites on 28th and 31st August, 6 days before the beginning of a New School Year. This is one of activities of the domestic violence prevention project in Ninh Binh funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC) The aim of the contest is to attract the participation and direct involvement in drawing of community people not least pupils in all 14 secondary schools. The topic of contest on gender equality, women’s rights, child rights and domestic violence prevention. The contest includes three main parts: opening, drawing, giving prizes and closing. Ten candidates chosen in each school are active pupils. They are at the age between 12 to 15 and they love drawing very much. They also have participated in communication activities on gender equality, women’s rights, child’s rights and domestic violence prevention. Each candidate has 45 minutes to draw and complete his work on a drawing-paper. Right after a sign to begin, all candidates felt highly enthusiastic. They looked really enjoyable in their drawing. Some pupils drew inequality gender between girls and boys or drew some domestic violence cases that they know. The others drew happy families, child’s rights and gender equality. Each painting, with lively sparkling colors shows about their daily lives and represents their hopes, beliefs and dreams. All paintings demonstrated brightly and clearly children’s dreams about a happy life without inequality gender or violence. While candidates were drawing, others pupils were singing and dancing in order to encourage the little artists. La Thi Khanh Hoa , a 15-year-old artist, the winner of Gia Vien district expressed a happy family with father, mother and two daughters. 4 people are playing happily on the beach with sunshine, water, birds and trees. This is a beautiful and motley painting. Vu Thu Hien, a 14-year-old painter was the winner of Nho Quan district. Through her drawing, she want to express a desire of children for a family life with love and happy, no sad, and no tear. It is said that this drawing contest was so interesting. All pupils were happy and looked funny and all of them were received gifts from organization board. 140 paintings were sent to RaFH and RaFH will be collect them in its propaganda materials. |
